Experience Spain’s Special Festivity: Saint Anton

Published by Travel Blogger under Spain Traditions

Spain is a colorful country that offers one of the most out of the common -and fun- festivities, as The Tomatina in Valencia, where people throw tomatoes to each other or the famous Bull Run of Pamplona, where people have to run in front of bulls!

There are also other -not so extreme- festivities that are very special, like the Saint Anton -the Saint of pets- day, that is going to be celebrated this thursday 17 of January. During this day people from all Spain dress their pets and take them -dogs, cats, birds and even pigs!- to the church where the priest blesses the pets with holy water, what is say to give them good luck and avoid any sickness.

So if you are a pet owner and are planning to visit Spain during these days, remember to visit the nearest church when you are going to have the opportunity to watch dressed pets being blessed! Do you have a pet? If so, are you planning on take it?
