El Bosque is situated in front of the Sierra de Albarracin, 32 kilometers east of Arcos de la Frontera. It is considered the gateway to the nature reserve, the Parque Natural de la Sierra de Grazalema.
The town has a population of 1,800. Located some 287 meters above sea level, El Bosque is watered by the Majaceite river, and is primarily a hunting and fishing town. The southernmost fish farms in Europe are found is this town, trout hatchery farms to be exact, that offers excellent quality trout fishes. As a result, El Bosque is famous and proud of its gastronomic interpretations of trout specialties that should be sampled by every traveler. It is also famous for its excellent cold cuts.
