Ubrique is a little town in the Cádiz province of Spain. It is nestled in the foot of the Sierra de Ubrique mountains.

History indicates that the present day Ubrique was originally given the name of 'Ocuri' in Roman times. It was a violent period marked by constant battles over the land, fought between the Romans, Muslims, and the armies of the Catholic monarchs. Finally, in 1490, the Catholic Kings awarded the Ubrique territory to the Dukes of Arcos.

The War of Independence occurred some time after, which was a very heroic time for the people of Ubrique. The Ubriqueños, with the aid of people from nearby towns, defeated the invading French Imperial Guard.

In 1936, the Spanish Civil War saw the destruction of much of Ubrique's historical artifacts.
