TRAVEL GUIDES DIRECTORY: COSTA DEL SOL SPAIN MÁLAGA
LEISURE ACTIVITIES
Visitors to Málaga often do not need to worry about what to do, for there is a wealth of things to get busy with! The first obvious destination for visitors is, of course, the beach. Málaga has a string of classy resorts all along the Costa del Sol. The traveler longing for the sand and sea need only follow the sound of the surf to find these elegant resorts.
After hours in the saltwater or soaking up the sun on the shore, what better thing to do than to eat! Málaga is endowed with a bewildering array of restaurants all offering an equally astounding array of Spanish and international dishes. The locals of Málaga all love to eat, and their bars and restaurants are melting pots of food, fun, and friends. One popular "meal" is the tapas, courses composed of little servings of different dishes. This is a good way to sample many different types of local cooking all at once.
The most popular local dish is the pescaito frito, a dish of assorted fried fish such as sardines and red mullet. A typical fisherman's meal, this meal goes down really well with a mug of cold fino.
As for shopping, the place to be is the Calle Marques de Larios, which is surrounded on both sides by a line of boutiques and shops. Also, the Atarazanas, Málaga Central Market, is another favorite destination for shoppers.
For travelers looking for adventure of a different kind, the Montes de Málaga Natural Park features rugged landscapes and deep pine forests. Further away from the city, the Torcal de Antequera Natural Area can be found. Here, one can find a steep gorge, several water reservoirs, and impressive limestone landscapes.
