Just nearby is Tarifa, a world-class windsurfing location which is also the venue for the annual world windsurfing championship circuit. Along the coast in Punta Umbria there are also countless of locations to dive. You can also try snorkeling here which is something that pretty much anyone who can swim can readily do. This sport requires the minimum of equipment which is basically, just a snorkel, facemask and flippers. It is great to snorkel here because of the relatively calm seas and gentle tides which provide a perfect environment for face-down in the water fun. As for divers, always ensure that you are with someone else knows their way in the water. For safety, a diving permit is obligatory and required in Spanish waters. Diving cost approximately 6 euros and they are available from a number of clubs and schools along the coast.
