TRAVEL GUIDES DIRECTORY: FUERTEVENTURA SPAIN: GRAN TARAJAL
PLACES OF INTEREST
The center of Gran Tarajal is known for its stunning fountain with six seahorses spouting water which is located right in the heart of abundant shady palm trees beside the 20 th century church.
This Gran Tarajal church was constructed around 1879, thanks to the generous contribution of a Spanish immigrant, who returned to the island of Fuerteventura after becoming rich in Cuba. He was also the first person to introduce the Chicago metal windmills to the island.
Around the church is an amazing palm grove with countless date palms and Canarian palm trees. The local artisans make use of the leaves and branches of these trees and turn them into intricate baskets and Majorero straw hats.
Not far from Gran Tarajal town is the Church of San Marcos and the Hermitage of San Marcos Evangelista , which were both built during the 18 th century.
