TRAVEL GUIDES DIRECTORY: MALLORCA SPAIN: ALCUDIA

LEISURE AND EXCURSIONS

The activities in Alcudia are mainly focused along the spectacular five-mile (8- km) beach that fronts the resort:

All sorts of watersports such as scuba diving & banana rides can be arranged.

There are tennis and squash courts in the resort and nearby attractions include a water park, a go-kart track and horse riding stables.

The nearby towns of Pollenca and Alcudia (old town) and the mountain village of Lluc are worth exploring in search of a little culture, while those looking to get away from it all can take a trip to the mountainous western side of the island.

Taking photos of the glorious views towards Alcudia Bay may be done with either car or bicycle activites, For an easier bike ride, take the road south of Alcudia to reach the wetlands at S'Albufera. The S'Albufera Park is a treasure for nature lovers where birds from all over Europe return to nest every year. The whole of the park is open to visitors and is easy to explore along its well sign posted paths.

Travel Guides Directory: Mallorca Spain Aside from the day trips run by most of the major tour operators, a good selection of half- day boat trips runs most days from the main port area. The cost is around £12 for adults and £6 for children ( inclusive of lunch, and takes you up the coast to an isolated beach at the tip of Formentor). The boats are quite modern, with both a small bar and toilet facilities onboard. On most trips the captain will usually stop for about 30 minutes giving you the chance to dive or jump off the back of the boat and cool off in the sea.

Walking is another way of spending time in Alcudia. The place offers space for walkers, ranging from steep mountain routes to easier coastal paths. The best recommended hiking place on the island is in the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains along Majorca's north west coast.

Sunbathing

Obvious advice, but the sun in Majorca is very hot. Please be careful and ensure that you cover yourself in a high protection sun cream. Remember you will get very badly burnt even on a cloudy day.
