Royal Carthusian Monastery
The Royal Carthusian Monastery somehow reached the peak of fame because of its two prominent and controversial guests during the winter season of the year 1838. These two were the Polish pianist and composer, Frederic Chopin and the female French romantic novelist who stood by the masculine pen name, George Sand. The cell where the couple stayed in still contains an aged piano and some informative relics, which can be viewed by tourists.
The monastery has remarkable gardens and covered passages. Within it is an old apothecary shop or pharmacy which used to merchandise herbs, medicines, and potions. The aged containers with herbs and other concoctions still appear the way they did a century ago. It s truly a fascinating must-see!
