Parque Nacional del Teide
The Orotava Valley and the mountain ranges around it hold scenic landscapes that are truly breathtaking. The park to see is the Parque Nacional del Teide ( National Park of the Teide ). The park encompasses the region surrounding, and including, Mount Teide. Mount Teide, or Pico de Teide in Spanish, is the highest point in the Canary Islands at 3,717 meters above sea level. It is the highest mountain in Spain, and the third largest volcano on Earth. Mt. Teide is presently dormant, having last erupted in 1909. The surrounding area features unique landforms and rock formations, and a variety of plants that can be found nowhere else in the world.
Jardin de aclimatacion de La Orotava
This park features tropical and subtropical plants, as well as local endemic species. Special studies are conducted on the vegetation and flora of the Canary Islands.
Jardin Victoria
This is a garden of masonic style and architecture, a rarity in the Canary Islands. It was constructed in the 19 th century according to the plans of French architect Adolph Coquet.
Oasis del Valle
The Oasis of the Valley is a natural garden featuring native plants and flora.
